In the past, fillers included permanent and potentially harmful substances. At the Ballsbridge Clinic Dr. Róisín augments lips with fillers made from hyaluronic acid (Allergan’s Juvederm® range). Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance found in most tissues in the body. HA binds water molecules giving volume, shape, hydration and elasticity. HA fillers are broken down and absorbed by the body over time with lip augmentation, and depending on the choice of filler, the result lasts on average 6-12 months.
